Complete Refacing Blind Fold Design!

This was a true FIRST for Distinctive Interior Designs!  Never before have we had a chance to do an extreme refacing makeover with a client being ‘blind folded’ both before and at the reveal after our work.  Believe me?  NO?!  Well, it’s almost entirely true…

Read on and see it all–young couple buys a property sight un-seen until the day of closing, same cute couple hires Distinctive Interior Designs and our Super Hero Team to strip it all down and do it all freshly over, and, finally, they arrive at 9pm after 45 days away in Texas with their 2 big pooches to a completely new home.  Changes?  Well…all new hardwood floors, newly refaced kitchen/ counters/ backsplash/ appliances, 3 completely redone bathrooms/ laundry, fresh paint throughout, and loads of electrical updates.

Tah Dah!!  Freshly done contemporary look!

Paint Makes a World of Difference

Sometimes it’s hard to imagine how just painting something could take a space and shift it from extremely traditional and worn out looking to fresh, young, and contemporary, but these pictures of just the stairs in this completely refaced home prove it in one fell swoop!

Really, the entire house was painted–every wall, inside of closets, every shelf, trim & doors, but the stairs had the biggest transformation (except for some cool bathrooms….oh, and the kitchen too)!  All that old carpet was stripped off and our flooring company (thank you Ron!) did an amazing job transforming those carpeted steps with just stairnoses and the addition of wood flooring on each landing and tread.   Then–talk about WOW what a difference–our painter cleaned off the ‘yuck’ of 20 years from the railings and got rid of all that traditional golden oak.  The couple’s choice–crisp white spindles and sleek black rails and risers.

That was just a teaser!  Wanna see more? Check out below!

Smashing old with NEW kitchen!

Because we’ve been designing and overseeing renovations for so long, we know exactly how to create the highest impact possible on the smallest feasible budget–EVEN in a kitchen!

We used our best resources and came up with the least costly approach to getting an amazing kitchen.  We had one of our Super Hero Team companies reface the existing cabinetry, used a quartz version of countertop that looks like Carrara marble, and simple understated white ceramic subway tile for their backsplash.  These BIG changes along with some unique details–gold cup pull handles, black faucet, brushed gold transitional style cage lights–all combined to create a camera worthy space.

See more to cool ways we changed this lovely couple’s home before they arrived from Texas below.

Talk about a MASSIVE change!

The prior master bath had 20 year old plaid wall paper, divided vanity sinks, a big (unused) soaking tub, a tiny shower, and a closed door VERY large toilet closet.   Since we help so many people with their renovation projects, Nicole and our team knew exactly what to suggest–not only a substantially changed footprint, but, also, many cost saving measures to keep within this young couples’ budget.

We first opened up the space, but knocking all the walls around the toilet down.  This allowed the toilet to be swiveled and the shower to be triple the size!   Instead of doing 2 walls of glass expensive custom shower doors, we suggested building a wall (for privacy and cost savings) and using these ‘off the shelf’ cool sliding glass panels.  Nicole also convinced them to not go with a preformed shower bed and spend a bit of the savings to do a custom wet bed.  After the tub was removed and a sleeker stand-alone version was ordered, the vanities were easily combined into one area.

Talk about WOW factor?!!?!

Flooring, Tile and SO much more!

So many tricks up our sleeves!  Sometimes it’s the standard ones (like putting in fresh tile or wood floors or beautiful new paint colors).  Other times it’s knowing resources or solutions in the home renovation industry that a normal everyday consumer has no idea is a great cost saving solution (like reglazing a tub instead of replacing it and ALL the tile above it)!

These ideas, and many more helped this young couple have a completely transformed and refaced home on a reasonable budget.  And we know they’d agree that they couldn’t have done it without Distinctive Interior Designs Super Hero crew!  They almost love them as much as WE do!
